Port Moresby, PNG – Muslim Community Sunday Get Together
Port Moresby, PNG- Islamic Society of Papua New Guinea (ISPNG) organized a Get Together Program on Sunday (05 July 2009) at Islamic Center in Port Moresby, PNG. Brother Fazul Jiffry led the program attended by the muslim community who resided at Port Moresby and its surrounding area. A couple of husband and wife embraced Islam during this program. The ceremony was conducted by Imam Mikailwitnessed by the Muslims who attended the program. Alhamdulillah, the recitation of the syhadah went smoothly may Allah S.W.T shower them with Iman and taqwa, Insya Allah.
During the Sunday Program, the children have the opportunity attending Arabic and Islamic classes which was conducted by the Grand Imam, Imam Mikail Abdul Aziz. The kids showed remarkable progress with their Arabic lesson and also the Quran reading skills. ISPNG plans to conduct competition and quiz program for children to encourage and to promote the Islamic education among the Muslim communities.
Apart of the Sunday Program, Imam Mikail also conducted regular Tafseer and other Islamic classes. With this great effort, the local muslims continue attend the classes regularly and improve their knowledge about Islam.
Imam Mikail Abdul Aziz is the only Imam in the country and is difficult for him alone to cover the other provinces in the country, therefore, the Islamic Society of Papua New Guinea (ISPNG). He urgently need another Imam to assist him in handling the Islamic affairs in Papua New Guinea.
RISEAP congratulates our Brother Fazul Jiffry, Imam Mikail and the Muslim community in Papua New Guinea for their great effort in promoting and spreading Islam as a way of life in Papua New Guinea despite that the society is struggling with limited financial and human resources and Islamic literature for their Muslim community
